Smokey Hills heads to Moondance Jammin’ Country & other summer events

The staff at Smokey Hills has been very busy with the exception of our shop cat, “Stinky Cat, who has spent most of the week napping on an office chair. Moondance Jammin’ Country 25 is this coming weekend and our well known and liked staffer Greg Poncelet will be there with our Smokey Hills Sponsored fisherman Tyler Wolden to showcase a few of our favorite Ice Castle Fish House RVs. Look for them over near the stage area/ main entrance to the campground for your chance to win one of two free go pro cameras. Take a selfie in front of the Smokey Hills / Moondance Banner and check-in at Smokey Hills Outdoor Store on Facebook. 2nd Streeet Stage begins this week on main street in Park Rapids. There is free music, a beer garden and food every Thursday night beginning June 16th. Smokey Hills will also have houses on display at the Wadena County Fair on June 24th & 25th.

Park Rapids Fishing Report 6/11/16
Walleye- Coasting out of the shallows to the weed lines or off the breaks in 10-15 feet of water looking for a slow easy leech or minnow. Drug behind a Northland “Pro- Walleye” Micro Blade Spinner or Long shank spinner!
Northern- Hanging around the shallows in 5-10 feet of water around the most amount of structure like timber, thick growing cabbage, looking for the easy prey. Tie on a Northland “Reed Runner” in either a 1/4th, 3/8th, or 1/2oz to sort through the smaller northern and find the Trophy!
Bass- Up anywhere from 4-8 feet of water in or around lilly pads, cabbage, timber, and bulrushes. Most have already spawned so now they are starting to aggressively feed looking to put the weight from the spawn back on. Tie on a Outkast tackle “RTX jig” paired with a YUM “Chunk” for your best luck to fill the limit!
Panfish and Crappie- Very Spread out throughout the water column from 5-15 feet of water looking for the most amount of structure again such as cabbage, docks, bulrushes, and lily pads. Tie on a Northland “Mimmic Minnow” or “Slurpie” either paired with a waxy, crappie minnow, or small leech for your best chance on filling the live well.

Win the tackle that Connor recommends in this week’s fishing report!
