Park Rapids Fishing Report 9/11/16 to 9/17/16
Walleye -Sitting in the deeper waters around the weed lines throughout the day in about 18’. In the mornings and evenings, the walleyes will move up onto the shallower shelves and ridges for feeding times. Most fisherman are pulling any of the huge assortments of Quick change spinner rigs in either single hook for the minnows or a harness for your crawlers.
Northern Pike – Starting to aggressively feed in the thickest of weeds in anywhere from 8’-14’ of water. Once the depths are found, tie on a Northland “Reed Runner Spinnerbait” either plain or tipped with a Rainbow or sucker minnow for best luck.
Bass – Very Spread out through the water column from 5’-15’ of water. For the fish up shallow look for docks, deep growing lily pads, and deeper bull rushes while pulling a Booyah “Pad Crasher” top water frog over top of them. For those deeper fish rig up the Z-Man “Chatter Bait” able to be fished in any depths with the intense vibrations of the lure.
Sunfish/Crappie – With the runoff from all of the previous storms the water has taken up a little cloudiness which makes it hard for the sun to reach the weeds underwater and eventually kills them off along with colder water temps. Look for about 8’-14’ of water with the taller greener weeds if possible. Tie on a VMC “Hot Skirt Jig” Either tipped with a crappie minnow or waxy.
